This is a primitive 9.5 inch 1800’s soldered tin taper candle mold / maker with handle . It has 6 holes for making candles . It was found in our old Vermont farmhouse and more than likely was used to make candles many years ago . As a homestead candle maker myself I have collected a few of these metal candle molds with hopes of making my own candles with them ; however I have learned that beeswax candles cannot be made in these . You must use paraffin wax . So this sweet old one has just been a rustic primitive showpiece that has been hanging out on my shelf . It has old rustic charm and shows age related wear and minor rusting , which I like because it displays well as a primitive piece but it can be cleaned up to sparkle for show or to be used . The candle maker is 11.5 in high 3.5 in wide and 2.5 in deep with a distinct handle .
