A large vase with handle by West German pottery maker Carstens. The form is full of character with its long neck and angled rim, a generous waisted body and a sharp ear-handle. The vase has a matte creamy glaze with a glossy mid-section that is decorated with hand-painted X's and stripes. Embossed on the underside is 1507-27 AUSTRIA.

Carstens Tönnieshof (1945 - 1984) was the main factory owned by the Carstens family. West German Pottery made by Carstens is generally considered to be of high quality.
