Slashes Get Connected With NGK Ignition Leads

Outstanding insulating characteristics, a high level of heat resistance (up to 200°C) as well as resistance to vibrations and fluctuations in temperature and humidity are the primary requirements to be fulfilled by OE quality ignition leads. Only if they fully meet these requirements can ignition leads deliver reliability under extreme conditions – even over an extended period of time.

There are three different types of ignition leads, copper core, resistive and reactive which differ based on the materials used for the conductor and the type of resistor required for interference suppression. The technology used in NGK ignition leads meets the OE standards of car manufacturers.

Slashes Types of Ignition Leads

Copper core ignition leads with interference suppression

Copper core ignition cables with interference suppression are manufactured with a copper core surrounded by a silicone layer that serves as an electrical insulator. Copper is an excellent conductor, but is also very sensitive to corrosion. Therefore, the copper core of such ignition cables is tin-plated. The outer insulation, made of silicone rubber, can withstand temperatures up to 220°C and is resistant to gas and oil.

Carbon resistor ignition leads

Carbon resistor ignition leads are manufactured with a fiberglass core with a silicone interior insulation. There is a coal-impregnated braided fiberglass inside a carbon resistor ignition cable. For carbon resistor ignition cables, the interference suppression resistance depends on the wire length. It can be calculated here (visit TekniWiki for more information).

Ignition leads with inductive resistor

Ignition leads with inductive resistor are surrounded by two silicone layers and fiberglass fabric. Like carbon resistor ignition leads, these ignition cables have a fiberglass core. The inner insulation made of silicone provides for stability and protects against high ignition voltages. The interference suppression resistance can be calculated here (visit TekniWiki for more information).

Authenticity

As we are a direct UK NGK/NTK supplier, 100% authenticity is simply guaranteed. We know that sometimes shopping online can be a precarious experience when it comes to genuine products, however rest assured that we are a trusted partner of NGK and have been for many, many years.

Driven 2 Automotive actually plays an active role in fighting back counterfeit products and we've also written a series of website blog articles dedicated on showing consumers how to spot some of the knock-off products we've found.

Trust genuine, trust us! Simply type 'How to spot fake Iridium IX spark plugs' in a search engine and we'll sure to be near the top of the results.

Vehicle Compatibility

  • Please search for the 'NGK Part Finder' website on a search engine to verify fitment.

  • If there's a compatibility chart added to this listing, please do not use it to confirm fitment and use the NGK part finder website instead. This is because it includes the latest bug fixes and compatibility updates.

Postage information is provided in the listing's postage tab above the description.
