Libertad coins are Mexico’s official silver bullion coins and have obtained world renown for their design. Unlike most other countries’ official bullion coins, the Mexican Libertads do not have a face value.

The reverse shows the winged Victoria, the symbol of Mexican independence, sometimes also called the Angel of Independence, standing in front of two volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl.

The obverse features a relief design of the Mexican National Shield, surrounded by the legend "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" (United Mexican States).
