Lionel train ornaments started in 1996 with the Hudson 700 Locomotive.  Every year since 1996 Hallmark has produced a Lionel locomotive.  Some years they have made tenders or additional cars to go along with that year's locomotive.  They have made tenders, passenger cars, cabooses, and other specialty cars. The Lionel miniature series started in 1999.  This is not an official series.  Hallmark has produced each year a miniature set of Lionel train cars.
