GI Joe Timeless Collection is a series of released action figure sets, which included a fully poseable 12" figure (based on the Masterpiece Edition body) and very accurately reproduced accessories. Hasbro produced these sets in several different waves from 1998 to 2003, and issued mostly as store exclusives. Some of the sets were issued under the banner, "Timeless Collection - Reminiscent of the Golden Age of GI Joe". These sets highlighted some of the more popular GI Joe themes from the late 1960s and early 1970s. They were produced in a window box format utilizing a nice, heavy card construction.
This auction is for a Timeless Collection III set, the Hasbro GI Joe Action Pilot - African American version. Issued as a Kaybee Toy Store exclusive in 2000. It comes with a fully articulated AA 12" Timeless Collection figure, which is a faithful reproduction of the original 1964 GI Joe figure. It is dressed in, what is my opinion, the most beautiful outfit ever issued for GI Joe. The fighter pilot is outfitted in a bright orange flight suit, a bright yellow Mae West vest, striking green G-pants, a magnificent, gold flight helmet with visor (virtually indistinguishable from the vintage version) and a (non-working) parachute with parachute pack. It has a ton of other accessories including boots, map and map case, a blue plastic fatigue cap, several die-cast items, and dog tag.
The set is brand new and the contents have never been removed from box, displayed, or played with. Box is in nice shape with little to no shelf wear, and box displays beautifully.
NB: FYI, Hasbro installed a battery operated talking mechanism for this figure, compared to the original talker, which used a string operated mechanical talking box. Please be aware that Hasbro included batteries with this toy. They are over 20 years old and most likely will have to be replaced. I can not guarantee if electronics are working. Since this item is considered New Old Stock (NOS), it is being sold as is. Please refer to pics and ask any questions before bidding, as there are no returns on opened items :-(
