GENESIS V "G-D TRANSPORTS ENOCH" and  VI "THE IMPIETY of the FIRST WORLD"

This is an antique engraving with 2 Biblical images from "Mortier's Bible” or “History of the Old and New Testaments”. Pieter Mortier (1661–1711) was a French mapmaker and engraver who won the privilege in 1690 of publishing maps and atlases by French publishers in Amsterdam for the Dutch market. He printed the bible above in 1700, enriched with more than four hundred printed illustrations cut in copper. Each numbered (bottom left corner of image) plate has two images - both images generally related - with appropriate headings on top of each image. The Bible passage is noted, and the titles are given in Dutch and French. At the very bottom of each page, in very small print, the name of Mortier as the publisher (and engraver) ( appears, as well as the original artist’s (many different) and engraver’s names. Each print (plate) is 10-1/2” x 16-3/4” in size; the total size of both images is appx 9” x 14” leaving sufficient margins on all sides (from 1/2” to 1” and more) for matting and framing. None of the pages have been trimmed and all are ORIGINAL in size - as taken from an original Bible printed in 1700, and not reprints of any kind. The image (without margins - see above), is from a photocopy of the print in question as the print is too big for our scanner; consequently the black and white contrast may not be as bright as in the print itself. Any discolouring or imperfections if any, will be indicated for each print being sold.

Numerous editions have been published in the early 1700s, and current prices vary from appx $1,000 in a later edition in very poor condition to $11,500 for a deluxe first edition. Single pages are found online from $35 to as much as $100 and more, depending on the subject matter. No matter - as we are liquidating our entire stock of over 3000 antiquarian prints of all types, our price per page have absolutely no equal to what you may found elsewhere on the internet, and allow you the opportunity of owning an ORIGINAL 300 year old BIBLICAL print at a fraction of the cost of purchasing a complete Bible, beyond the reach of most buyers. Each print will be flat packed and shipped 1st CLASS AIRMAIL in a sturdy cardboard mailer with backing to prevent any damages, and is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity, all included in the cost of postage and handling. IMPORTANT NOTE:   Once again, this print is IMMACULATE with no spots, blemishes, tears, toning, etc, and has large margins for framing - see size above; any blemishes will be noted separately.    PLEASE ADDRESS ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE TO THE SELLER.
