This pair of solid silver wine coasters are both decorative and useful. Both carry the maker's mark of William Abdy, and are probably made in 1786. Both have mahogany bases, and look very good on display.


As is frequently the case with this type of object, there are signs of use and time. One coaster is in very good antique condition. The other has a missing piece of silver underneath from work to the base, and some minor splits to the rim underneath. There is also a split that goes into the body, ca 5mm. These issues are not visible when the coasters are on the table.

Diameter to the top is ca 11.7cm, to the base 12.2.


All on all, a decent and useful pair of 1780s silver wine coasters.
