This 1935 silver half dollar was issued in commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the founding of the colony of Connecticut. 

Featured on the reverse is the famous Charter Oak - according to legend, the Royal Charter was hidden in the tree during the reign of King James II, who wished to revoke it. The charter was produced after his overthrow in 1688, and the colony continued under its protection. original mintage was 25,018.
