Climbing French Bean seeds "Cosse Violette have beautiful deep purple pods which turn dark green on cooking. They have a fine flavour and harvests over a long period in either glasshouse or out in the open. Climbing beans such as this variety should be supported much in the same way runner beans are.

This delicious vegetable has the added bonus of looking stunning in the garden. This is a strong growing bean that will produce a steady supply for you over many weeks. The narrow, stringless dark purple pods reach about 25cm long. 

French beans dislike wind and cold and a sudden frost will kill them so grow in a warm and sunny sheltered spot and plant out in June after all risk of frost has passed.  They grow best in a fertile soil with plenty of organic matter dug in, this should be neutral to slightly acidic with a pH of 5.5-7. Sow 5cm (2″) deep. Plant 30cm (12″) apart.
