Nixon / Agnew 1973 Bronze USA Inauguration Medal 2.75" Gilroy Roberts JFK Artist

Historic White House Treasures from Saturday's Toys presents...  a vintage solid bronze medal produced by the Inaugural Committee to commemorate the second term of office for President Richard M. Nixon (1913 - 1994) and Vice President Spiro Agnew (1918 - 1996).  The President's term came to an abrupt end less than two years later with his resignation from office on August 9, 1974; the first Presidential resignation in American history.  By the time that Nixon had resigned, the Vice President had already resigned from office on October 10, 1973; the result of his conviction for felony tax evasion.

The high-quality medal is beautifully preserved in pristine condition.  Solid bronze with traditional matte-finish.  Sculpted by Gilroy Roberts; best known for his work in creating the John F. Kennedy portrait for the U.S. half-dollar.  As such, this was the first Official Inaugural Medal to be sculptured by an artist whose portrait of a President appears on U.S. coinage.

Minted by the Franklin Mint exclusively for the Inaugural Committee.  Additional hallmarks noted along edge of medal, as shown.  Medal measures approx. 2.75"

Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 15,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.

Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers): "Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
