The Whip Hand by Samuel Merwin 1904 HC 1st/1st Very Good

There is some light soiling and spotting to the front and rear boards. There is rubbing to the edges and light fraying to the spine edges and corners. This is not drastic. The binding is tight and secure throughout and has a slight right lean and the spine is slightly rounded. There is some foxing present in the interior, however the majority of it is limited to the first few pages where it is the most prevalent. The page edges have darkened with age. Please see photos or message me for more details.

About the book:  The Whip Hand is a classic western frontier adventure featuring young Captain Halloran of the Evanston crew of young boy sailors. Excerpt: "Sure he's dreaming. They haven't been gone twenty minutes. What's the matter with you!" Yes, it is only twenty minutes; and there is a weary, bitter hour yet for the poor devils before they may set foot on land. Another song is the cry, and more wood-heap her up! Again Apples mounts his grim perch-the head- and footstone of half a dozen forgotten sailors-and marches the "Grand Old Duke of York" up the hill, and marches him down again…"  The Whip Hand is a gripping tale of adventure and romance set in the wilds of the American Midwest. When a young woman is kidnapped by a band of outlaws, it is up to the hero of the story to rescue her and bring the villains to justice. The novel is a page-turner from beginning to end, with plenty of thrilling twists and turns along the way.
