This is a large American Art Deco Aviation Executive Desk, designed by Frank Fletcher and manufactured by Fletcher Aviation for Hughes Aircraft in Pasadena, California ca. 1945. The desk was initially designed in 1940, but a design patent number was not issued to Fletcher for the piece until 1945. The rounded triangular desk features a lush, highly figured walnut veneer, and it floats on a black plinth base.

The desk is 44 inches deep, 72 inches wide, and is 29.5 inches high. The piece remains in truly terrific shape; There are some light scuffs and scratches on the legs, and there is evidence of age throughout. It has been fully refinished just recently and had some veneer repairs done during refinishing. Overall, this important desk is in very good condition. Please see photos.
