I’m very excited to offer this incredible, restored c.1910’s era neoclassical style flush mount fixture featuring an incredible wheel cut starburst patterned glass shade!

This fixture, from about 1910, is in fantastic vintage condition, and features a richly molded cast iron mount that has been recently restored to a rich variegated gold finish. I love the leafy, foliate patterned motif. There are some minor surface irregularities found in the casting, but this can be expected from any such fixtures from this era.

A fixture like this is special, as it is representative of the kind of light that a well-to-do family would have hung on their porch ceiling or in a vestibule, for example - otherwise forgettable spaces, but lit beautifully. Lights like these are often tossed in renovations and are not easy to come by in good condition anymore, as these typically rust away to nothing after a few decades of neglect.

The porcelain socket is original, while the wiring and mounting hardware are new.

The incredible wheel cut shade, featuring delicately cut starbursts, is absolutely lovely. It lights very well and suits the fixture quite nicely. It is free of notable chips and flaws, save a handful of fitter end losses, which is common. It is a 3 1/4 inch fitter shade.

The scale of this light makes it ideal for a smaller sized room at about 6 inches in diameter at the canopy and 6.5 inches long. I picture it in a vestibule, on a porch ceiling, or perhaps a large closet or powder room. This is a very versatile light fixture that would work with just about any style of decor. This piece will amply cover a modern junction box.

The sale includes all the necessary original mounting hardware - light bulbs are not included.
