Saxscape Tenor Sax Mouthpiece, DOWNTOWN MB1 SP Slim Profile .112 Facing 52mm/2 #3163, Large Chamber

Inspired by the Guardala MB1 which Michael Brecker played primarily during the period of 1986-2007. The high wedge baffle gives it lots of projection, the thin tip rail enables quick articulation and note to note transition, and the large chamber permits effortless playing in the lower registers. Currently being played by tenor heavyweight Danny Walsh with Grammy nominated guitarist Mike Stern. The facing length is a longer-than-normal 52 mm/2, similar to the original Guardala, for players used to that facing length.

World-renowned mouthpiece expert Steve Neff reviewed a Saxscape Downtown MB1:

"In my opinion, the Saxscape Downtown MB1 is a great tenor saxophone mouthpiece for those of you looking for a sax mouthpiece with a focused brighter tone similar to a “Brecker” type of tenor saxophone tone.  If you need volume to cut through in a “live” band situation and love that brighter “Brecker” type of tenor saxophone tone, then the Saxscape Downtown MB1 tenor sax mouthpiece is a great choice!  I think Ken Barry at  Saxscape mouthpieces has done a great job with the Downtown MB1 tenor saxophone mouthpiece." -- Steve Neff
