Johnny Compost’s Compost Johnny Base Edition is an innovative compact separating toilet. Whether you are looking for sustainability or independence, the Compost Johnny brings you the most features at the lowest price anywhere.

The Compost Johnny Base Edition is very easy to maintain. The solid waste is simply changing out the bag, like you would any kitchen trash. Then emptying the bladder, which pulls out from the front, and is extremely easy to transport and dump. Some use a water spray bottle to flush the diverter. Easy!

The Compost Johnny Base Edition has integrated ventilation and uses a Bladder and Box System for waste, ease of use, and efficiency (there is also the Bare edition without ventilation). The goal for this design was to create an elegant, functional, and affordable toilet without compromise on ease of use or quality. We've worked very hard to make this an incredible value!

The Compost Johnny Base Edition is accessible for maintenance through the front, rear, or top. The wood portions are polyurethane treated for durability.

The Compost Johnny Base Edition uses a proprietary Bladder System. Our Bladder System makes for a deeper Diverter, larger capacities in smaller spaces, and is inexpensive to replace in the event it gets to be soiled or otherwise. The included Bladder Handle makes it incredibly easy to transport and dump or dispose of the Bladder. Compost Johnny Base Edition comes with two Bladders! They are light-weight and extremely durable. Replacement Bladders will be available in our main shop. They are clear or opaque depending on material availability. There is also a fashionable canvas concealing carry-bag included for privacy when you transport the Bladder. The concealing carry-bag makes it very easy to dump in public toilets or dump stations!

The Compost Johnny Base Edition features a unique Bobber that pops up to reveal an “X” through the drain when the Bladder needs swapped or dumped. No more guessing!

Unlike the Bare Edition, the Compost Johnny Base Edition has integrated ventilation, and comes with everything you need to get going as soon as you get it (except organic material for the solid waste, which is not included), with 12ft of Ventilation Hose and all the necessary hardware and attachments to vent it through the wall, ceiling, or floor. If you plan to use the ventilation, the Compost Johnny Base Edition does require around 3 watts of electricity that is easily powered by USB, normal household AC electricity, or 12v. USB and AC power adapters are included!

Additionally, the Compost Johnny Base Edition utilizes a Box System for solid waste in order to ease cost, use, materials, disposal, and maintenance. The Box System can be used with 10x10x10 cardboard boxes (one included), or a permanent box. Along with the provided 10x10x10 cardboard box your purchase includes 2 heavy-duty plant-based bags to use as liners, which are provided as samples. The 10x10x10 cardboard box is reusable when used with the bags as liners. If you’d like the permanent Solid’s Box we will have them available in our main shop, as they are sold separately.
