This is an unusual soldered tin or Toleware container with 3 separate compartments.  I was told it was used by Miners to hold Carbide for their Lanterns. Measures 5" long and 2.5" square.  It's divided halfway to create 2 sealed compartments, each with a threaded screw-on cover.  I'm guessing carbide pellets powder in one side maybe water in the other?  One of the covers has a recessed area on top with a separate friction-fit cover for storing matches.  It shows remnants of the original gold painted finish it once had.  No rust or damage.   Guaranteed to please the new owner or I'll buy it back.  Check my Feedback.
