When he was first introduced in 1964, GI Joe took the toy world by storm. With 21 movable parts and loads of detailed accessories, "America's Movable Fighting Man" quickly became a sensation and a new way to play for boys across the nation and around the world.
In my opinion, as a GI Joe fan since 1964, there is no greater toy than a GI Joe Action Figure. GI Joe will provide hours of healthy, imaginative play time. It is a serious alternative to video games.
To commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the release of America's greatest toy soldier, GI Joe, Hasbro began releasing large box sets that included a boxed 12 inch action figure from one of the four Armed Services (Action Soldier, Action Marine, Action Pilot and Action Sailor) and related uniform and accessory sets. The 40th packaging was almost identical to vintage, original items.
You are bidding on a set of (5) GI Joe 40th Anniversary, fully articulated 12-inch figures, an Action Soldier (Caucasian), an Action Soldier (Ethic - African-American), an Action Marine, an Action Pilot, and an Action Sailor. These are the boxed figures that came out of the original 40th Anniversary sets, that were mentioned above. Please allow me to repeat, this auction is for a set of five figures only. There are no accessory cards or uniforms that are included.
The Caucasian Action Soldier is dressed in an olive drab uniform and comes with the much rarer cloth fatigue cap, brown painted hair, and is complete with boots, dog tag and US Army Field Manual.
The African-American Action Soldier is dressed in an olive drab uniform and comes with the customary green plastic fatigue cap, black painted hair, and is complete with boots, dog tag and US Army Field Manual.
The Action Marine has black painted hair and is dressed in a camouflage uniform, complete with green fatigue cap, boots, dog tag and US Marine Field Manual.
The Action Pilot has brown painted hair and is dressed in an orange flight suit, complete with a blue plastic fatigue cap, boots, dog tag and US Air Force Field Manual.
The Action Sailor has red painted hair and is dressed in a blue denim work uniform, complete with the very rare and desirable white cloth sailor cap, boots, dog tag and US Navy Field Manual.
PLEASE NOTE that there are no equipment, or accessory sets included in this auction. You are bidding on the set of five boxed GI Joe figures only, which were removed from the 40th Anniversary sets. These figures have never been removed from coffin boxes, and have never been played with, nor displayed. Boxes are in great shape, and there may be some shelf wear such as bowing, bubbling, scuffing, etc. Also, as is normal with the cardboard boxes used in the 40th Anniversary sets (I have sold hundreds of these figures since retiring about 5 years ago), it is not unusual for the tape that was used to hold the inside of the box to have dried out. There are many easy, affordable fixes for this. I like to use a self sticking paper tape on my personal collection when needed. It works really well and is hard to tell from the original. Having said all that, this set of five boxes display beautifully!
