I’m very excited to offer this incredible, restored c.1910’s era pan style chandelier featuring ribbed, etched, satin glass shades!

This fixture, from about 1910, is in fantastic vintage condition with a very richly mottled patina that brass can only acquire through decades of oxidation. I have not polished the metal as to preserve the interesting color, but it did get a thorough cleaning. There are some minor surface irregularities, but this can be expected from any fixtures from this era. The shade holders each have hairline “stress cracks” that are typical of vintage spun brass lighting parts. They are not visually obtrusive and do not affect structural soundness in any way.

A fixture like this is special, as it is representative of the kind of light that a modest working class family would have hung in their house, because even in an era of excess, not everyone lived in opulent, lavish mansions. Lights like these are often tossed in renovations and are not easy to come by in good condition anymore. This particular pan light, with the circling stamped detail, is remarkable.

The keyless porcelain sockets and the wiring are all new, the wringing being cloth covered like the original would have been.

The pressed glass shades, which feature delicate ribs and subtle etched scroll motifs, are absolutely lovely. They light very well and suit the fixture quite nicely. They are free of notable chips and flaws save a handful of unremarkable flea bites to the bottom rims, which look to be a product of the manufacturing process at the time they were made.

The scale of this light makes it ideal for a smaller sized room, at about 16 - inches across, measured from shade-to-shade, and about 29 1/2 - inches long. I can adjust the length down a bit, but I cannot make it longer. I picture it in a powder room, a bedroom, over a stairhall landing/common space, or even in a larger closet. Pan lights were wildly popular in the early 20th century, and are very versatile light fixtures that work in just about any space.
