A SCARCE pocket edition sized copy of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy in Italian.


Published in 1921 by Barbera in Florence, Italy. In original vellum-colored buckram boards with a linen back strip. Spine and front cover gilding. Marbled endpapers. All edges red stained by the publisher. A pocket-sized book, 4” x 2.5”. 575 pages. Collated and complete. Blind-stamped panel bordering.


Condition: VERY GOOD+ Antiquarian Condition


Square spine with firm hinges and joints and tight pages. Soiling to boards and spine. Front board slightly warped. Minimal rubbing and edge wear. Fading away of most of the red edge stain. Slight cracking of front hinge. Some water dampening to first few and final few pages. A few tears to FFEP. Owner name in ink on half-title page. Internally is clean with no writing, stamps, bookplates or foxing.


Overall, a nice little antique copy of Dante’s classic The Divine Comedy in Italian in VERY GOOD+ antiquarian condition.
