This came out of a local Connecticut estate that was filled with Abraham Lincoln and Black Americana from the 1860’s through early 1900’s. I don’t know the exact age of this but I would think it’s likely 1860’s-1880’s. I would guess that it was part of a traveling road show or theatre group as that was part the collection as well. Legs are wood as well as the hands and lower arms, upper arms are soft, chest feels like something soft wrapped around wood, I have not removed the clothes so I cant say for sure. The hat is tin and I’m 95% sure the head is wood. Note there is some damage around the bottom of the neck where the metal rod inserts. There is also quite a bit of damage and soiling to the clothing. Hat is crumpled, belt is broken. Clearly this is not in mint, like new condition. Please view all 24 photos for measurements and to help judge condition. Note in the last 2 photos I show that I removed the iron rod that was controlling the arm, it had to be done to be safely packed and shipped. I’m order to remove that rod I had to bend that thick wire that was used to attach it and pull it through the holes in the hand. Insurance and signature confirmation included on domestic shipping charges.
