This is the model is the 191, a rare semi-hollow double neck guitar/bass manufactured by Hofner in Germany from 1961-64. Its was ownd by its 1st owner, a Mr. Pat Winther from France as he had a hot band called Les Satellites, notice the B & W photo for his band from 1960. It features two Type 511 “Super” pickups for the guitar side and one single Cavern pickup for the bass side. It’s got typical Hofner control plates featuring a single volume for each pickup and multiple switches to get various tones. The guitar pickups are chimey and clean with a good thuddy bass response and nice clarity. The guitar neck is extremely easy to play, with normal action but due to its thin shape and extreme radius it fits in your hand extremely naturally and is very quick playing. The neck size and scale length makes it still quite playable. The guitar is semi-hollow bodied and weighs in at an incredibly low 7 lbs 2 oz, an unheard of low weight for a double necked guitar. Having just been serviced & both necks were reset, she’s goo for the next 63 years. Included with the instrument is the rare original hardshell case.
