This is an extremely fine First World War Prussian 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class that is in excellent condition. The magnetic, stove black iron core is with high relief and flawless black finish. The silver frame is without separation and with a beautifully age toned patina. The jumper ring is unmarked. The cross is housed in a fine, faux allegator skin leatherette case that measures 3 x 5 inches and with a functional spring button catch that hold the case securely closed. The underside of the lid is fitted with a white and printed image of a 1914 Iron Cross within a laurel wreath in the center. The base upon which the cross rests is of plush mouse gray velvet and recessed to hold the cross. The top of the base is recessed to hold a folded 10-inch piece of original ribbon. It remains a truly beautiful cross in an equally beautiful case as awarded to officers during the Great War.
