Published in 1961 by McGraw-Hill in New York, first edition, first printing as indicated by “first edition” statement on copyright page numbering. In original 1/4 grey over turquoise cloth covered with light blue and white lettering. Octavo. Illustrated with black and photos.
Robert John Donovan (August 21, 1912 – August 8, 2003) was a Washington correspondent, author and presidential historian.
His titles include, among many others, The Assassins (1955), Eisenhower: The Inside Story (1956), PT-109: John F. Kennedy in World War II (1961), Conflict and Crisis: The Presidency of Harry S. Truman, 1945-48 (1977).

The book is in NEAR FINE condition - Square spine with firm hinges and joints and tight pages. Colorful, unfaded boards. Clean untoned edges. Light rubbing to heel of spine and edges and a scratch on front cover else FINE. Sharp corners. Interior is as NEW - clean, bright white with no writing, bookplates or foxing.
The dust jacket is in VERY GOOD+condition - colorful, price with light rubbing, mostly along the spine, and only a few spots of dust soiling. Light edge wear creasing and some chipping and small tears at spine ends and rear panel near spine. Front flap with a mark along bottom.
Overall, a beautiful higher grade collectible copy of a wartime classic - one of the nicest on the market!
