Description

You are buying a Rolls Royce or Bentley Dunlop No.35 jack, it is marked "1945", pre-war jacks were not marked as such, there is nothing stopping you removing the "1945", if you want the jack to look authentic for the year of your car. may be suitable for Pre-war Bentley 3 1/2 litre /3.5 (1935) and also for the 4 1/2 / 4.5 Litre variant (1940)

Condition

Good, looks like to of had some use, winds up and down smoothly and effortlessly, gearing has minimum of backlash and feels quite precise.

Broad tolerances - Has some rock in the risers, (about 1/2 inch each side of centre line, when fully extended) I suspect this was "As Designed" from new, as jacks are not precision pieces of equipment. and some do have this "clearance" to help them line up on uneven surfaces or where there is a transmission brake that lets the car roll forward on the jack. (Sorry the only way you are going to verify this is to examine another 1 or 2 them) there is no indication that actual wear has taken place to create this slop.

No real rust, has lost most of its paint, some remnants of paint remain. Has some slight rust staining, I could see no point in painting it, as you will paint it, so I basically cleaned up, so you can make a fair assessment of its condition.

Centre riser is not pitted from rust, it's cast, so has that appearance.
