Ever feel like you are literally DROWNING in cornets and trumpets? No? Then you are not me. I need to get rid of the under-played instruments from my basement. Some of them are great, as I’ll be the first to tell you. Some are not great, and I’ll tell you that too. All of them looked interesting to me at some point. Maybe they’ll be interesting for you too.

Here’s an obscure horn from a VERY famous maker— a D. CALICCHIO New York ’SUPERIOR’ Bb TRUMPET. That’s right, Dominic Calicchio first went out on his own (from Rudy Muck’s shop) in New York City, for a couple years and a couple hundred horns ending in roughly 1947. Then he took the train to Hollywood and ‘stardom’ (as much as a trumpet builder gets, anyway). This particular horn is serial 1272, putting it late in the NY run. The bell had a big wrinkle in it when I got it; the pros at Anbrass in Van Nuys straightened it out great. Plays well, has genuinely ’great patina’ with about half of its original lacquer. Compression is great, everything moves and slips as it should. Selling because I’m broke and this is more horn than I will ever need. Comes with a period-correct case and Conn 4 mouthpiece.  Low start bid of NINE HUNDRED NINETY DAMN U.S. DOLLARS, about what I have in it. Fully insured, bulletproof-packed shipping is SEVENTY-NINE BUCKS in the CONUS.

THE FINE PRINT: NO RETURNS, this is old stuff here and is described as best as I can make it and take it (photos, that is). AK, HI PR buyers please wait for my invoice, as shipping will be higher. International shipping is through eBay International Shipping ONLY, as far as I am concerned. Your use of sketchy drop-box re-shippers is AYOR and your business, not mine. No bidders with less than 10 positive feedback. Payment is due within 48 hours, please— this isn’t life essential, it’s to be purchased with extra money you have in-pocket when you bid.
