THE MAGIC OF MATT SCHULIEN: by Philip Reed Willmarth. Matt Schulien was a larger than life Chicago close up magician and one of the earliest to perform in restaurants/bars. A legend in Chicago and the close up magic world. A rare classic must have for the true close-up magic collector. This is the original spiral bound first edition published in 1959. These type books back in the day typically had very limited runs and this one is rumored to have been a run of only 500. Those that exist rarely come up on the market. Subsequent printings I'm aware of were in 1976 and 1994.I have no idea as how condition is graded for books, but the photos speak for themselves. There is one page that has a “frayed” outer edge - see photo. Small “waving at bottom of last 15 or so sheets – see photo. Clear plastic "cover" has small chip off at bottom left corner, a crease in bottom front right corner and small crease in back, bottom left corner. Spiral comb binding appears complete and almost looks new. A perfect collectible gift for yourself or someone you know.
