LOT OF 5 RARE TRANSLUCENT BAKELITE MAH JONGG RACKS! PLEASE READ, APPLE & CHERRY JUICE! BEADS
I HAVE NEVER RAN ACROSS TRANSLUCENT, OR SEE THRU RACKS BEFORE. I DID RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND SOME OF MY DESCRIPTION WILL SHOW THAT.
THE BLUE GREEN RACK, THE REDISH PINK RACK, THE BUTTERSCOTCH RACK, AND THE GREEN RACK ARE ALL TRANSLUCENT. THE BROWN RACK CAN'T BE SEEN THROUGH.
MY PICTURES DON'T FULLY SHOW HOW SWIRLED AND MARBLED THE RACKS ARE. I DON'T HAVE A LIGHT BOX TO SHOW JUST HOW WELL ONE CAN SEE THROUGH THE BAKELITE RACKS.
PLEASE SEE ALL OF MY PICTURES AND READ THE LITERATURE I HAVE COPIED FROM THE INTERNET. ;) I BELIEVE THE BUTTERSCOTCH RACK IS APPLE JUICE, AND THE REDISH RACK IS CHERRY JUICE. THE BLUE GREEN RACK AND THE GREEN RACK I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE THAT IN COLOR BUT THE ARTICLES EXPLAIN IT BETTER THAN I CAN. ;)
Yes, Bakelite jewelry can be transparent in color, too. These colors vary, like with the solid color pieces shown above, but are most often found in yellow, green, and red.
Clever collectors have named yellow transparent Bakelite "apple juice." Sometimes you will find a piece of red transparent Bakelite nicknamed "cherry juice" as well. These pieces can be plain or carved, and the transparent nature of the material allowed for them to be reverse carved as well (as shown below).
