Both sides carry the same pattern with pictures of both sides so you can see. 

There is a slide along one long edge (also inlaid) that reveals ten slots for the cigarettes/cigarillos. Shown half off and fully off in photos.

I have been told the origin is Syrian or elsewhere in North Africa but I am unable to assess this as there are no markings.
