CONDITION NOTES: VERY GOOD +  Wraps handled on edges with small edge tears and chips.  Text pages FINE and bright, without marks, creases, or tears. Light offsetting from red ink (also from laid in broadside).  Small bit of toning from back cover pastedown.   Paper label is fine.
BINDING: Blue paper wraps with paper label.

EXTRA ITEM: Found laid in, a hand-press invitation card (broadside, 1p.) printed by Grabhorns for a separate event.  Probably rare.

BACKGROUND: Part of the Decorative Arts Division of the Golden Gate International Exposition, San Francisco 1939.  The general directory of the Exposition only included the names of the binders.   Here we have the much more detailed catalogue published by and for Bibliophiles in a limited edition.  Arranged by country, and then by collector, a large exhibition of Fine Bindings from California, American, and International collectors.

No Axis countries included, however large consignments from England, Norway, France, and Switzerland.  Poland, Finland, and Hungary also included.  Also, no Asian, African or Latin American countries.
