➤ You will receive 1, or 2 rooted plants -- various shapes and length. The plant --about 3" to 7" (randomly digging) has few leaves, and soiled. Buy in a bag (Each will be wrapped with plastic/bag to keep it fresh) OR in a small pot.
➤ Please do not let the package stay too long in the mailbox. Open the package as soon as you receive it. Transplant plant to a big pot or in the ground. Place it in shaded area about 1-2 weeks. It will grow really fast, about 3-4 feet tall. They love medium sun or partial shade, and no need too much water.
➤ If the leaves are little dried, you may consume some leaves, and transplant the root and stem only.
➤ Common names: Fiery costus, Step ladder, Spiral flag, or Insulin plant (Costus igneus, or Costus pictus)
➤ Uses: house plants (indoor or outdoor), also use for adding insulin or reducing blood sugar level for type-2 Diabetes. In some research (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov), it shows this insulin plant supports the therapeutic potential of the leaves in diabetes.
➤ You can consume the leaves in many ways: mix/blend with yogurt, or salad, or dried leaves tea, Etc. I myself love to eat the frozen raw leaves. I store a bunch of young leaves in a sealed plastic bag. Place them in the freezer for a few days and chew them one by one. Taste like "ice cream". 🤤🥰
➤ I grow them organically in Houston, Texas
I love to re-use packing/shipping materials (boxes, containers, mailers, bubble wraps, foam peanuts, etc.) to extend their life and keep them out of landfill.
