Use a PCIe Card with Any Thunderbolt 3–equipped Computer

Fewer and fewer new computers are being loaded with PCIe card slots. If that's what's keeping you from upgrading, then you're in luck. The Echo Express SE IIIe from Sonnet Technologies allows you to connect three PCIe cards to nearly any Thunderbolt 3–equipped Mac or PC. For example, use your UAD-2 cards with a laptop. With speeds up to 2,750 MB/s, high-resolution multichannel audio is no problem for this expansion chassis. It even supports 4K video capture! The Echo Express SE IIIe provides up to 15 watts of power to your peripherals and features a rugged aluminum housing.
Nearly every Thunderbolt 3–compatible PCIe card is supported

The Echo Express SE IIIe supports cards from Apogee, Focusrite, Lynx, RME, SSL, Universal Audio, and more. It features x8 PCIe slots and supports half-length+, full-height, and single- and double-width PCIe cards.
Expand your system with Thunderbolt 3

The Sonnet Technologies Echo Express SE IIIe features two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The first connects to your computer. The second is reserved for daisy-chaining up to five additional Thunderbolt devices to your computer. You get 10Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 support to connect a USB device. You can also connect a pair of 4K displays or a single 5K display. The Echo Express SE IIIe also provides up to 15 watts of power to your bus-powered peripherals.
Connect your computer to one port on the Echo Express SE IIIe and daisy chain up to 5 additional Thunderbolt devices (plus two 4K monitors, one 5K display, or one USB 3.0 device).
Well-thought-out design that's built to last

The Echo Express SE IIIe boasts a well-thought-out design. Your PCIe cards are well protected by a lightweight yet rugged aluminum shell, and a temperature-controlled fan keeps your cards from overheating. Its variable-speed motor speeds up when things get hot and slows down when things get cool. The Echo Express SE IIIe also saves energy by powering on and off with your computer.

Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G Capture Card (BMD-BDLKHDEXTR4K12G)

The Blackmagic Design DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G is an 8-lane PCIe Gen2 digital cinema capture and playback card with two multi-rate 12G-SDI inputs and outputs that accept resolutions from SD up to DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 60 fps. The card supports 10-bit YUV and 8-, 10-, and 12-bit RGB color, as well as up/down/cross conversions and 3D stereoscopic output at full bandwidth 4:4:4:4 RGB. The DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G features a mezzanine card design that has 4K HDMI input and output connectors on a second daughter card, along with connections for adding two optional optical fiber modules for Dual Link optical fiber SDI input and output. The card also supports AES/EBU balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs/outputs, analog video I/O, reference input, and RS-422 control via an included breakout cable.

Flexible Format Support
The card offers flexible format and system support, letting you work with compressed video formats such as ProRes and DNxHD, as well as 12-bit 4:4:4 uncompressed video. When working with uncompressed video, all images are pixel-for-pixel identical to the source, without any generational loss. This lets you get sharper keying with green screens, cleaner compositions, superior color correction, and more. Support for common file formats provides ready-to-edit files for use in popular editing, effects, and design software applications. DeckLink Studio 4K is compatible with Mac-, Windows-, and Linux-based workstations.

Optical Fiber Connections
Two optical fiber connections on the daughter card support optional optical fiber modules for Dual Link optical fiber SDI input and output. SMPTE compatible optical modules can be added for up to 12G-SDI speeds, allowing you to choose to connect equipment using optical fiber connections instead of regular BNC copper cables for much longer cable runs, even at 12 Gb/s speeds.
