This antique porcelain subway sign is a rare find and features iconic destinations such as Coney Island, Queens, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. It is a simple two color design with a green background and bold white lettering. The text is very sharp and easily legible for the most part. The bottom right side of the sign shows some damage and makes it slightly more difficult to read the end of “Island”. There is a hole in the “N” in “Queens” on the sign, and some other significant damage on the far left of the sign that causes a thin strip and fragile side. Most of the mounting holes at the top of the sign no longer have material above them making only about 4 of them functional for mounting. That being said, the piece has been mounted to the wall using 3 screws and it perfectly stable so mounting will not be an issue. The sign still holds value coming from such a well known and culture rich area. It measures about 14” tall at the tallest and 74” wide.
