Very early 1700s American made piece. Very few of these have survived.  From my private collection.

The cooking rails on this one are forge welded onto the round, then twisted 45⁰ so the points of the rails are under the meat being grilled. This helps with being a slightly more nonstick grilling surface.

Such a well crafted blacksmith piece. Rarely seen now. Early "lollipop" hanger, predecessor of the rat tail hangers. Very large formed design.

Top spins freely and smoothly, very little wear. Very early pulled pig iron craftsmanship.  You can feel the blacksmith's hammer on this Early construction.

Simple utilitarian form that could be used as a grill for meat or as a trivet for a pot.

Early  constructed example.

I am a 3rd generation early American hearthware and utilitarian collector.

My pieces range in age from American colonial first settlement period  to roughly 1840. In the coming weeks,  I will be listing many rare and hard to find, seldom seen pieces.

Almost 18" long, cooking surface about 7.5" round. Stands on almost 2 1/2" feet.

A rare and very seldom seen form. Central Pennsylvania acquired decades ado.
