About the Artist
My name is Daniel Blackmore and I live and work in Oxford. I am mainly a watercolourist but sometimes I paint in oil and acrylic. I love watercolour because I find the balance between control and freedom beautiful and I never cease to be amazed at how fresh and alive it feels because water is its essence and water likes to run its own course.

I love painting and drawing outside in the country, around my home city of Oxford and when on holiday.

I like a sense of place in my work and I am interested to see new angles and ways of depicting my environment, the city and the Cotswolds.

Sometimes I paint on location. However, I usually sketch in my notebook and then draw up a painting back at home. Alternatively, I compose in pencil on the paper which I take home and paint in watercolour using my memory and imagination. I find this helps me to care less about being true to the subject and more about the image I am trying to achieve.

I now have many paintings in people's homes around the UK and some other countries. It brings me satisfaction to know that my work is valued and some kind of appreciation of art and the subjects that interest me is shared with others.
