Hand Painted Boseck & Co Alhambra Pattern Green Red Gold Bread Dish 1882 - 1934

Very nice and rare porcelain bread dish. Nicely decorated in the popular hand painted Alhambra pattern with designs in red, green, grey and gold gilding. With gold gilt scrollwork overlay to the red and green. The relief molded handles are fully gilded. Marked with a crown and Vienna Austria in green. This mark was used by New York importer PH Leonard between 1880 and 1898, after which the mark was used by Bawo & Dotter. An importer mark would be over the glaze, but in this case it is under the glaze and more likely indicates the dish was made by Bawo & Dotter in Austria. Also marked with a green winged crown over Austria Hand Painted Alhambra. This is an overglaze decorating mark used by Carl Friedrich Boseck & Co between 1882 and 1934.

Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.

Measures approximately 11 3/4 inches long x 8 3/8 inches wide x 2 1/2 inches tall.

This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
