Dresden Frankenthal Style Hand Painted Purple Battle Scenes & Gold Sugar Bowl

Rare quatrefoil shaped porcelain sugar bowl with relief molded rose finial. Decorated with hand painted puce battle scenes framed by gold gilt quatrefoils with scrollwork, small flowers, and lattice/net design. With gold gilt diamond and scrollwork pattern along the rim. Gold gilt highlights to the finial. Marked on the bottom with an underglaze pseudo/spurious Frankenthal mark of a blue lion. The mark is not an exact copy of the Frankenthal mark, and while similar forms and decoration were used during the 18th century, the body itself does not appear to be correct for that time period. This is probably a later 19th century or early 20th century copy made by one of the Dresden studios.

Has some wear to the gilding and a few small tiny to the roses and leaves on the finial, but otherwise good condition.

Measures approximately 4 5/8 inches wide x 4 1/2 inches tall.

This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
