Drafting Stool

This drafting stool has received some attention as it was starting to show its age. There was surface rust in areas,
and a great deal of it has been removed. It was completely disassembled. The seat was sanded and stained, and
all metal parts were painted with a clear coat to deter any further corrosion and to shine them up. Top to bottom...
The headrest has a little spotty rust still present and the rest is fine both front and back. There is also an area of
light corrosion at the bottom of the piece that runs from the headrest to the chair. The back side of this is good.
The wooden portion of the seat was discolored in spots so it was sanded to eliminate them, but there is still an
area that is darker. The metal around it looks good and the top rotates on the base properly with no resistance
found. The underside of the seat is fine, with just a hint of rust at some edges. The rod that runs down through
the legs are now, after some work, relatively rust free. It is now just discolored. This piece functions as it should,
with the chair sliding easily up and down. The legs all look very good with little wear, the same for the foot ring,
but there is a small amount of rust still present where it meets the legs. This is not visible unless one is
looking for it. The casters were the most corroded part of the chair. They were cleaned up and were all
found to rotate and roll as they should. Please see the pictures for further details.
