This auction is for a vintage 1960s Epiphone Olympic Special guitar.  I'm not sure of the exact year but from what I've read this style was introduced in 1964 and discontinued in the late 60s early 70s.  The serial number is 501401.  It was made in Kalamazoo, Michigan alongside Gibson models and is basically the same guitar as a Gibson Melody Maker.

The guitar is in good overall shape but needs some TLC.  The previous owner removed the Vibrola tree, is it included, just not on the guitar as I have always heard they're unreliable for tuning and playing so I never put it back on.  He also replaced the original pots (which he gave to me and I will include) because they were badly corroded.  When he wired it up for some reason the volume knob now operates the tone and the volume can't be adjusted.  I imagine he just connected it to the wrong posts but I never got around to opening it up to look at it.  The guitar is playable as is but like I said the volume control doesn't work. The frets are in decent shape but could use a good polish as they are very dull.

The guitar is all original as far as I know except for the pots and input jack which as I said were replaced by a previous owner.

The guitar has been played, it has nicks and dings and scratches as you'd expect with a 60 year old guitar.  It has finish checking.  On the back it has a place in the finish (as can be seen in the pics) where a plastic guitar cord left in the case reacted with the nitro finish and "melted" into the finish leaving an indentation of the cord.  The guitar sat unplayed for decades from what I was told, I bought it from the son of a previous owner and he believes his dad bought it new but he wasn't sure.

Like I said the guitar is playable as is, it just needs some issues fixed to make it a great playing guitar.  It will need a setup and new strings.  I've owned it for about 3 years but only played it a few times due to the wiring issues.  It has a great neck on it and is really comfortable and light.

The guitar itself weighs just over 6 pounds, around 6 pounds 1 oz by my scale.  It will be shipped in the chipboard case I got from the owner.  I don't know if the case came with the guitar originally but it's the one his dad used when he played and it is old.

The guitar will be shipped via whichever service is the cheapest.  It's usually FedEX Ground/FedEx Home Delivery.   If the buyer prefers a different service I'll be happy to use it but the buyer will be responsible for any difference in costs.

I understand some players are more picky than others and that this is an expensive guitar so if you have any questions please just ask and I will do my best to answer them.
