With the inaugural Talladega 500 being driver protested for various reasons, Chrysler offered Richard the ride to replace Charlie Glotzbach in this brand new Chrysler factory team Charger Daytona built and prepared by Ray Nichels Engineering. Richard would go on to win the first Talladega 500 at the brand new racetrack with the brand new factory designed and engineered Dodge Charger Daytona. The Chrysler Aero wars were full tilt with the winged warriors. The car is a racing classic and beautiful.
