Interesting bookends in the form of a candle in front of shelves of books.  Several bookend collectors' references call this "Volumes and Candlelight."  I don't know if that is the manufacturer's name, or just something the editor of those references dreamed up.  But it is accurate in its description.

Hollow-cast grey metal (spelter) and given bright enamel colors.  No maker's mark (there would have been foil labels on the bottoms) but this is known to be the work of Ronson.  Circa 1930.

Condition is OK.  The piece on the right clearly got dropped, leaving a big scuff at the top of the right hand edge, and causing 2 cracks along the bottom edge of that same side.  The cracks were repaired, not so professionally.  See 3 pics with pencil pointing.

Otherwise, both pieces sport nicks and dings scattered about.   Paint is original, mostly intact, but with some noticeable chips and scuffs. Felts are replacements.   Both sit flat and stable.

4 3/4 inches tall; base is 4 inches X 2 1/2 inches.  Combined weight is 5 1/2 pounds.  [Unusually heavy for their small size because the interiors are filled with something to provide weight.  For the damaged piece, you can hear something rattle if you shake it]

Perfect gift for holding up those paperbacks.
