This incredible opera cloak from the early 1980s features a gorgeous multi color brocade fabric (silk and rayon) with threads of a champagne gold lurex throughout. It closes off to the side with a frog closure and antique Czech glass button in a rose gold shade. It is lined in a rosy coral shade (lining is a rayon taffeta) and has one interior pocket.

It is woven in a gorgeous feathered/marble look - reminiscent of the hand marbleized end papers that were used in antique books.

When this cloak was made the fabric cost around $80 per yard.

The fabric is not something you could ever find today, if you could find anything even close it would likely be anywhere from 350--550$ per yard. (This was not woven in China - or any Low wage country- this predates all that!) Pretty sure it was it was from a French Mill)

There's a lot of fabric in this cloak so it could be worn as is or recut into something else spectacular. It's got a very nice drape to it. It is NOT a super heavy or thick brocade - overall the cloak weighs just over 2lbs 12oz

There are some loose ends in the lurex fibers, these are very minimal and can easily be rewoven in. A gentle steaming will restore the shape nicely as it has been stored on a padded hangar. (Pet free/ no smoking home)
