This is a beautiful, large antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate and paste Cairngorm citrine brooch.

The stones are classic white and grey speckled agates from Fife, red jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire and green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum. The faceted stone is a paste ( glass ) citrine made to simulate a genuine citrine from the Cairngorm mountain range.

The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period and has been fully tested and is sterling silver.

The brooch width is 5 cm ( two inches ) and the pin and C type clasp are in good working condition although the pin is not original and the brooch has some wear to the gold wash on the back.
