This is a stunning, large antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate and paste Cairngorm citrine Luckenbooth design brooch.
The Luckenbooth is a classic Scottish love token with the design made from the fusion of two heart shapes with a crown on top to 'crown' the merger.
The stones are classic white and grey banded agates from Montrose, orange and mustard jaspers from the Campsie Fells in Stirlingshire and green and red speckled bloodstones from the Isle of Rum. The other stones are all paste ( glass ) made to simulate genuine gemstones from around Scotland.
The brooch has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces from this period and has been fully tested and is sterling silver.
The brooch length is 5.2 cm ( just over two inches ) and the pin and C type clasp are in good working condition and original.
