Up for bids is a used colorized postcard of St. Francis Hospital, 311 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio.  Originally built in 1851 as the Starling Medical College, St. Francis Hospital opened in 1865 when the Society of the Sisters of the Poor of St. Francis leased two-thirds of the building to operate a hospital.  The facility was the first teaching hospital in the United States.  The building was demolished in 1956.  Grant Hospital now stands in its place.

This card was postmarked before 1910 in Columbus, Ohio, and was mailed to Miss Lillian Pulford in Ashley, Ohio..

Take a look at my other postcards and save on shipping if you’re the high bidder on multiple cards.
