VICTORIAN STILTON DOME

A huge Victorian earthenware stilton keeper by Ashworth (G. L. Ashworth & Bros, Hanley, 1862-1968 - renamed Mason's Ironstone China in 1968). This enormous cheese dome has an elegant fluted design with gilding. The base has had some repairs to the hairline cracks and some filler (possibly glued?). A very imposing piece! Would look good on a country house dining table or wedding table.

Age: mid Victorian

Condition: The dome is in good condition (has some light crazing to the glaze) and could be used with a large earthenware dinner plate. As mentioned above, the base has had some restoration to cracks and / or breaks, and value would be added if it was dealt with by a professional ceramic restorer.

Outer diameter of base: 28.8cm
Max diameter o dome: 23.9 cm
