Vintage embroidered/crewelwork map on linen -circa 1930s. Measures approximate 26” x 18”. The frame and glass were in poor condition and will not be shipped with the item. It is stretched and mounted (glue?) on stiff cardboard backing that does appear to be original. I removed it from the frame pieces but otherwise am not attempting anything else with this piece. I will leave any framing or restoration up to the high bidder. What so see is what you will receive. There are some light marks/stains as you would expect from a piece that this that is almost 100 years old, but overall it is in remarkable condition. Please review all photos carefully and ask any questions before bidding as this is sold AS-IS.

Embroidered map of Long Island decorated with modes of transportation and buildings from its history. A tall ship, sailboats, and ocean liner, a zeppelin, and a blue car on the island. Tepees, a windmill, a church, the Montauk Lighthouse and the Long Island ducks. A whale in the Sound and a sea monster in the Atlantic Ocean can also be seen.

The map also shows a compass rose, the words Long Isle Land in fancy lettering, and a heraldic emblem in the upper left corner.
