Healthy aquarium/pond with natural conditions
The correct water values in the aquarium/pond depend on the fish stock and the plants present. Even if the water looks clear, it may be contaminated. If the values are poor, diseases or algae can form in the aquarium/pond. For a healthy aquarium/pond with natural conditions, regular monitoring and adjustment of the water parameters is important.
For every water analysis, JBL offers water tests in the form of quick tests or color change tests. These determine a specific value or several values at the same time. With these water tests, algae problems can be identified and negative nitrate, nitrite, potassium, magnesium, etc. values can be detected. be determined.
Nitrite is formed when protein and ammonium are broken down by bacteria. It is usually further processed into non-toxic nitrate. Nitrite (NO2) should not be measurable in aquarium and pond water. If nitrite is still measurable, the bacterial degradation process is disturbed and from a concentration of 0.4 mg/l it becomes dangerous or even fatal for fish, as nitrite blocks the transport of oxygen in the animals' blood. Water changes and good bacteria starters such as JBL Denitrol or JBL BactoPond.
