This antique measuring tape is made of the Tagua nut also known as vegetable ivory. It features a Stanhope viewer. The pink cloth tape which is calibrated in inches rewinds by turning the spindle. The little viewer in the spindle features a view of The Jourdain. From my research I believe it was made between 1860 - 1915…and is in good condition considering its age. It has been in my sewing collection since the early 1980s.
