Set of 6 Nippon Hand Painted Cherry Blossoms Green & Gold 7 5/8 Inch Circa 1891-1921
Set of 6 antique Japanese porcelain plates. Nicely hand painted with a
border of green and whites, with the white portion extending into
triangles framed with blue and green floral designs. There are 3 pink
cherry blossoms above each triangle, with blue and green leaves and
through the white bands. The center of the plates is painted a pale
yellow or ivory. With gold gilding along the very edge. Marked on the
back in red and green Hand Painted Nippon with a crown. This mark is
listed in the book Van Patten's ABC's of Collecting Nippon Porcelain as
an authentic Nippon mark, but no exact dates are given. The Nippon era
of Japanese porcelain was between 1891 and 1921
These have some usage wear consistent with age and wear to the gilding, but otherwise good condition.
Each plate measures approximately7 5/8 inches wide.
These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the pieces.
